Camp Verde is located in Central Arizona in the Verde River Region 86 miles north of Phoenix, situated along the 18 miles of the Verde River at an elevation of 3,133 feet. Camp Verde is near the geographic center of the state of Arizona. The community is the oldest in the Verde Valley and was established in 1865 to protect settlers from Indian raids. The town incorporated in 1986.
Camp Verde and the Verde Valley are experiencing rapid growth. Many factors account for this: the mild climate, scenic beauty, clean air and water, slower pace and recreation offerings are enticing many newcomers to the area. Our goal in Camp Verde is to develop "Growing Smarter Guiding Principles" that allows us to grows, as while as, preserve our heritage and beauty. According to the Chamber of Commerce, Camp Verde has a population of 10,500.
